XB Front Suspension

With up to 60-degree wheel cut, the XB offers industry-leading maneuverability. Combined with tuned Sachs® shocks, it also delivers a smooth, solid ride and added passenger comfort.

DetroitTM Front Axles

10,000 – 14,700 lbs.

For over 70 years, Detroit Diesel Corporation has developed a legacy of reliability and efficient performance. These qualities have been transferred to steer and drive axles, the components that shoulder your load day in and day out. Detroit axles combine advanced design features and state of the art manufacturing processes and are designed specifically for FCCC chassis.

For the tightest turning radius and maximum maneuverability, the unique design of the Detroit steer axles’ I-beam and tie rod arm offer up to a 50° wheel cut. And by using needle bearings that roll against the kingpin instead of bushings that rub, they increase durability while reducing maintenance needs.

By integrating the differential case and ring gear, Detroit drive axles allow room for a larger and sturdier differential. The ring and pinion gears are precision machined using a power dry cutting process, resulting in better mesh for less noise and a longer life. Lightweight design means higher payload and freight efficiency.

ZF™ Independent Suspension and Front Axle

Buses equipped with the ZF front axle system offer passengers the advantage of not having to negotiate steps to board. Full low-floor, low-entry, and double-decker buses with ZF IFS provide an exceptional combination of steering responsiveness and precision and ride comfort, plus a high axle load and reduced body roll. A high level of wheel deflection increases the turning radius in comparison to rigid axles, offering wheel cut up to 60°.

  • Up to 60-degree wheel cut offers superior maneuverability and turning radius
  • Tightest turning radius in the industry
  • Double-wishbone design offers smooth ride and refined handling
  • Excellent center feel and steering response
  • Front air-disc brakes with ABS help maintain control and significantly decrease stopping distance
